1991 - Jason

After our first "Exclusion Process" concert, we decided to continue with the "unknown bassist" gag. Since our next gig was December 13, 1991.. a Friday night... I decided it would be appropriate to dress up as Jason from Friday the 13th.

I thought I was uncomfortable before - this party house was exceedingly hot and smokey and crowded - and I wore my glasses underneath the mask so I could see. That plastic hockey mask and slightly padded shirt were very uncomfortable.

My anonymity remained. After the concert, a friend of mine who was working as 'security' put on the mask. Now, Craig doesn't really look anything like me - he's taller, he's got brown hair, and was wearing a completely different shirt. Nevertheless, some ditzy girl did go up to him and ask, "Are you the bass player?".

For our third gig, I wore my music tux (I got a lot of costume mileage out of that thing over the years) and a gorilla mask (no pictures). It was a 'monkey-suit.' Get it? For our fourth gig (and also our biggest and our last), I finally dropped the costume idea and just wore regular, comfortable clothes.
